All Strung Out were formed in 2005 when Chris Fry and Andy Mulligan decided to join forces for a charity concert in Cardiff. Since this premiere they have gone from strength to strength, appearing extensively across Cardiff and South Wales. The duo performs a wide variety of music; Classical duets, Latin / Jazz standards, and their own witty arrangements of contemporary pop.
The Duo are at home anywhere. Past performances include recitals at Wales Millennium Centre and The Gate Arts Centre, masterclasses playing for John Mills and David Caswell, and also regulars entertaining the crowd at the Cowbridge Food Festival.
Chris Fry started playing guitar in his teens, learning and performing Beatles songs with a school band. He went on to study classical guitar and gained a diploma of licentiate from the London College of Music external examinations syllabus.
Chris has made appearances on tv and radio with various rock bands and currently plays guitar in the progressive rock band Magenta, he won the Classic Rock Society Guitarist of the Year in both 2008 and 2012 for his playing with them. He works for Gwent Music Support Service as a guitar tutor and is also head of the guitar faculty.
Andy Mulligan started playing guitar at school in Liverpool, influenced in equal parts by John Williams and Jimi Hendrix. He studied guitar and composition at Cardiff University, and later studied guitar with John Mills.
He has made numerous appearances on tv and stage, highlights including playing for Kerry Ellis and Only Men Aloud, (whom he used to sing with.) Louise Dearman and others. He also plays for a number of local covers bands and currently works for Rhondda Cynon Taf music service as a guitar tutor.
